Two new coaches for the Rising Elite and University Development camps will add their names to  the VbDC staff and take prominent roles in leading the camps this summer. Roberto Farinelli, who has worked with the Italian national team’s training section, will join the coaching staff for the Rising Elite Camp and Sam Peters, a professional player with dual US-UK citizenship who has played for universities in both countries and will be competing in Germany next season, will help lead the University Development Camp.

Farinelli, 42, is a trainer with the Federazione Italiana Pallavollo, Italy’s volleyball governing body. His work has taken him on assignments as the technical director to clubs such as Olymp Praha in the Czech Republic, ŁKZ Siatkóva Žeńska in Lodz, Poland and Bartoccini Fortenfissi Perugia, in Italy, where he was also head coach for that club’s youth programme. Further afield he has been technical director for development of the Malian national volleyball federation, and head coach of the Gambia national women’s team.

Peters most recently played for CSM Bucharesti in Bucharest, Romania. He began his pro career after spending a year at Nottingham University under Coach Freddie Fairbairn and being recruited onto the England senior men’s squad. Prior to that he played ball at George Mason University outside Washington DC, where, as at Nottingham, he served as team captain. His coaching experience has been gained at several American clubs and a stint at the University of Nebraska.
