Training Levels

Volleyball Development Camps runs a variety of camps throughout the year, each designed for specific skill levels. No single VbDC camp is intended to suit every ability — and that’s intentional. An athlete who has been playing for three years won’t progress much if they’re training alongside complete beginners, just as a newcomer won’t benefit from training with national-level players. The greatest progress is made by training with peers of similar ability.

As our name suggests, we focus on development. VbDC uses a step-by-step training approach, grouping athletes by ability so they can learn, improve, and master the skills needed before moving up to the next level.

If you are familiar with the piste classification system used at most ski resorts, you can use our analogy to that system by the way we colour our beginner camps green, intermediates blue, advanced red and expert in black. Just as on the slopes, transitioning from one level to the next isn’t instantaneous. There can be early achievement of proficiency in some skills that warrant promotion to the next higher grade, and conversely, after moving up a grade, there may still be a need to revise some skills from the previous level. That’s why you will find some camps listed in two levels.
