Virtual Assistant Coach programme
The summer months can be a low point in school volleyball training as athletes disperse for the holidays or get jobs. Many may neglect to maintain their training during this period. Those who do continue to train might attend a camp offering a curriculum that has little in common with the school programme, or which is directed at skillsets that vary considerably from those the coach needs the athlete to concentrate on. Sometimes the absence of focussed training can mean coaches need several weeks just to get their teams back into top competitive form.
Volleyball Development Camps’ Virtual Assistant Coach (VAC) programme can help overcome this dilemma. Well before the summer break the athlete, their school coach and VbDC formulate an intensive 60-hour syllabus that focuses on the skills the athlete needs to improve. The syllabus is then delivered by one of VbDC’s coaches assigned to the Rising Elite Camp. Individual attention is assured as coaches are not assigned more than two VAC athletes.
During the course of the camp the school coach, athlete and the VbDC coach can consult by video conference on the progress the athlete is making and if necessary, adjust the syllabus. From time to time, training sessions are streamed so that the school coach can follow the sessions.
The Volleyball Development Camps’ Virtual Assistant Coach option is available only during the Rising Elite Camp. Each syllabus is unique, and therefore coaches and athletes interested in the programme should email VbDC for details.
