Video Recording

Some VbDC camps offer the option of purchasing video recordings of the training sessions. At some camps recordings are choreographed for educational purposes, as in the GCSE Sports Studies practical exam camp. Others are general recordings of the athletes in trainings, used to build a scholarship application portfolio or just as personal keepsakes.

There is no set choreography to the Performance camp video coverage. Static cameras are placed on the mezzanine overlooking the courts, and periodically during the day cameras go onto the court, either in static positions or mobile. This is primarily a documentation of the camp proceedings, but we do make an effort to be creative and look for interesting shots and angles. Over the course of the week most, if not all, of the athletes will come into frame (except those who have specifically requested not to be videoed). Most takes tend to be action shots.

As in any filmmaking project, some shots can be quite spectacular if the camera is in the right place at the right time, but the majority simply serve as a record of events and are of varying quality and content. Even so, they can be useful for athletes compiling a record of their skills for scholarship applications, coaching assessments or simply as souvenirs. They are supplied unedited.

Athletes interested in obtaining recordings can contact VbDC for details.
