Individual Coaching Assessments

One of the services provided at VbDC Performance camps is biomechanical measurements. All athletes who train at the Elite Camp will have this data dating back several years, and many training at the Emerging Elite Camp will have had biomechanical measurements taken at some time in their playing career. However, relatively few athletes at the Rising Elite Performance Camps have ever had their biomechanicals taken. This data is important for any athlete serious about their volleyball career, and those who do not have them need to start keeping a record of both their physical growth and performance abilities at the time they reach this stage of their playing career. These records are provided as part of the tuition.

Biomechanicals can only describe so much, however. They cannot give details about how an athlete performs in a team situation, explain their court awareness, describe the range of their playing skills, recommend areas in which they need further development, or describe their leadership abilities. Such data needs to be compiled on an individual  basis by a qualified coach who knows what to look for.

If an athlete wishes to have a more detailed assessment on their performance at the camp it is possible to make arrangements for one of the coaches to pay extra attention to the athlete and compile a report on their performance, including observations of skills at which the athlete has shown particular ability, as well as recommendations for areas of improvement.

Athletes interested in this option should email VbDC for details  Arrangements must be made at least two months in advance of the camp so that a coach can be assigned to prepare the assessment.
