The Emerging Elite Camp is a five-or 10-day, intensive training experience for athletes who have been competing at advanced level on a school or club team.
Who it’s for: Athletes with a minimum of four years of training and competition, ideally with at least three of those year round, on school JV or varsity teams, or club county and provincial teams. The athlete will have been training in an environment in which his or her performance in a specific position determines their place on the team’s starting line-up. In competition you can maintain a 50 percent success rate in hitting a 3 metre square target area with your “safety” serve.
VbDC’s message to the athlete: You are an accomplished volleyball athlete with a high level of skill You maintain a high level of fitness all year round. You engage in two-way communication with your coaches in training and in competition. You have a regular role in a specific position, but are capable of playing at least one other position with competence and can play any position if required. You have a 50 percent success rate in serving to a targeted opponent athlete in competition. You perform both the attacking and defending functions of your position without guidance.
Average age: 15-18
Athlete information required: You must provide information about your playing history and competitive experience, your physical attributes (eg. height, wingspan, dominant hand, vertical jump, etc.), your playing position, awards, and other relevant details to help coaches prepare the course. A recommendation from a qualified or licensed volleyball coach is mandatory. If you are not known to us, videos of you in training or competition may also be required.
