Intermediate

Most beginner athletes at Volleyball Development Camps training programmes can’t wait to get into competitions. But they’re not normally ready for game play, and it is the objective of VbDC’s intermediate level curriculums to prepare young athletes for playing in structured volleyball matches.

This is a wide-ranging level focusses on the individual’s ability to control the ball. Technique is taught at first, then consistency becomes the goal and finally accuracy is the objective.

Repetition, repetition and more repetition of the basic actions for passing, attacking and serving are needed, and for most young teens it will take a couple of years of steady, year-round training to achieve proficiency.

Athletes mustn’t rush the process through the Pathways, Skillz and Skillz Plus curriculums though. Not until he or she can control the ball sufficiently well enough to pass the ball accurately to their teammates, smash it onto the opponent’s floor, or consistently serve the ball into play is an athlete ready to progress to the next level, and take part in what we call “performance” training.
